If you have not visited our lovely recently refurbished Museum yet, you might like to buy a few interesting items about Aldeburgh, many of which you cannot get elsewhere. If you have visited us why not buy something to remind you of your visit?
Aldeburgh Museum has relaunched the book ‘Up the Steps: a Tale of Old Aldeburgh’ by Aldeburgh’s well-known GP Dr Nora Acheson. Together with her husband, also a GP, they had their practice in Aldeburgh from 1931 to 1981. It is their dog Snooks, who watches over the children’s boating pond.
Thirteen-year-old Lucy comes to Suffolk by train to stay with her Aunt and Uncle whilst her mother is in hospital. But all was not what she expected. What are these strange goings on in the night? What are they putting in the cellar? A wonderful exciting tale of smuggling, treasure, rescue and adventure all set in and around Aldeburgh.
'Up the Steps: A Tale of Old Aldeburgh' was written in 1974, a story of the ‘old days’, of smuggling, treasure, rescue and adventure, all set in and around late 19th century Aldeburgh. Although the characters are entirely imaginary, all the episodes are drawn from actual events. It is a delightful tale for children of all ages and is now available priced at £7.90, Delivery is free.
